Ana "Anne" María Hidalgo Aleu (French pronunciation: [an idalgo]; born 19 June 1959) is a French politician who is the current Mayor of Paris. She is the first woman to hold the office. She has been a member of the Socialist Party (PS) since 1994, previously serving as former National Secretary for Culture and Media. She was the First Deputy Mayor of Paris, under Bertrand Delanoë (March 2001–March 2014). She was elected as a Councillor in 2001 for the 15th arrondissement and ran again in the French municipal elections, 2008. She was elected mayor at the March 2014 municipal election.
